The report
What is a Risk Report?
A PDF listing the operations a commercial business actually performs, found in its public footprint: its own website, review platforms, social profiles, permits, and other public sources. Each operation carries a confidence score and links to its sources. Operations that carry different exposure than the class you entered are called out separately, with the reasoning written out.
Who is it for?
Commercial insurance underwriters, and the agents, brokers, and MGAs who prepare submissions. It checks the operations on an application before you quote, on a new account, or at renewal.
What sources does it check?
The business's website and service pages, its Google rating and reviews, Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, the Better Business Bureau, Angi and HomeAdvisor, Nextdoor, permitted work history, and other relevant sources such as local news. Every source is listed in the report, including the ones that found nothing.
How accurate is it?
A finding is only as good as the public sources behind it, and those can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. That's why every finding cites its sources and every operation carries a confidence score: you can check the evidence yourself before relying on it.
What doesn't it do?
It doesn't verify licensing, permits, insurance, ownership, or regulatory compliance. It doesn't recommend coverage or tell you whether to write the account. It reports operations and cites them, and the underwriting decision stays yours.
What if the business has little online presence?
The report says so. It lists every source it checked, including the ones that found nothing, so a thin result tells you something too. Adding the business's city and website on the order form gives the search its best chance.
Ordering and pricing
How much does it cost?
$5 for a Standard report and $8 for a Thorough report, paid per report. There are no subscriptions, minimums, or contracts.
What's the difference between Standard and Thorough?
A Standard report comes from one research pass. A Thorough report runs two independent passes and merges them into one report, marking the findings both passes identified as “Found in both runs.” Public sources return different results from one search to the next, so a second pass may surface findings the first did not.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes after payment, or around five for a Thorough report. The PDF is emailed to you, so you don't need to wait on the page. If it hasn't arrived within about fifteen minutes, check your spam folder.
What do I need to order?
The business name, its state, the trade as written on the quote or application, and your email address. The city and website are optional, but both improve the search.
Why do I have to confirm my email?
The first time you order, and every 30 days on the same computer, we email you a 6-digit code to confirm the address is yours. It keeps a card you save at checkout yours, and it makes sure the report reaches you.
Can a whole team use it?
Yes. A company account puts your team's reports on one company card. Anyone at your company's email domain can order without a payment page, or your admins can limit ordering to the people they approve. Each report costs the same as ordering on its own. For a book-wide rollout, email contact@underwritermind.com and we'll talk it through.
Using the report
Can I use it at renewal?
Yes. Businesses add services between terms, so a report at renewal shows what the business advertises and what its customers describe today, not what last year's application said.
Who owns the report?
Once paid for, a report belongs to the company that bought it. File it with the account, share it within your organization, or keep it as a dated record of what was checked.
Is it a consumer report?
No. Reports are about businesses, not individuals, and are for commercial use such as underwriting a commercial insurance account. Underwriter Mind is not a consumer reporting agency, and a report must never be used to judge an individual's eligibility for credit, personal insurance, employment, or housing.
Does it use AI?
Yes. Public sources are gathered and then analyzed by AI, and every finding in the PDF links to the source it came from, so you can check the AI's reading against the original.
Refunds, privacy, and contact
What if something goes wrong with an order?
A report we can't complete is refunded automatically. A report that never arrives is resent or refunded, and a report on the wrong business through our error is rerun or refunded. The Refund & Dispute Policy has the details.
What do you do with my information?
We collect what an order needs: the business details you enter and your email address. Stripe handles payment, so we never see your full card number, and producing a report never sends your email address or payment details to our research or AI providers. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I reach you?
Email contact@underwritermind.com, with your order reference if it's about an order. We aim to reply within two business days.
